Concepts and measurements

Work

Two sites we measured, rebuilt, and sent to the companies they were made for. Neither was commissioned, and each one says so.

  • “Registered Public Accounting Firm”
  • “KAP Andi Ruswandi Wisnu & Partners deliver assurance that regulators, boards and investors trust, including OJK-registered audits for banks, capital-market participants and non-bank financial institutions.”
  • “OJK-registered”
  • “Established 2017”
  • “Licensed, registered and independently accountable”

A registered public accounting firm in Jakarta. The page paints quickly, then keeps downloading: 4.92 MB in total, 4.75 MB of it images. It also has no h1 at all.

The interesting part of this measurement is what it is not. The site is not slow to paint and it is not missing its metadata wholesale, which is where a generic audit would stop. It is 4.92 MB of transfer for a page whose job is to say who the firm is and how to reach them, and it has no h1, which means the single strongest on-page signal about the firm’s own name is absent.

So the case was never performance, it was proportion. An accounting firm’s site is read by people deciding whether to trust it with their books. The old page opens with a stock skyline; the rebuild opens with what a prospective client needs first, which is what the firm is licensed to do and who stands behind the opinion. The regulator marks, the practice lines and the engagement process are the page now, in that order.

The concept is live and it was sent to the firm. It was not commissioned, and nobody there has agreed to it being shown here; if they ask, it comes down.

  • “ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory, on site”
  • “ISO 9001:2015, certified 2018”
  • “The Transformer Testing and Research Centre is our own laboratory, accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 for accuracy testing of current transformers.”
  • “manufactures current and voltage instrument transformers for low and medium voltage distribution networks, from one facility in Subang Jaya, Malaysia, since 1995.”

A Malaysian instrument transformer manufacturer, established 1995, with an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited test lab. The site sits behind bot protection, so no score is given. What a person can see is thin light text set over a dark workshop photograph.

This one is a better example of what an audit cannot do than of what it can. Our tooling never got past the verification page, so there is no score, and we are not going to invent one. What is left is what a person can see in a screenshot, which is a legitimate observation and is labelled as one.

The substance is that this is a specialist manufacturer with a genuinely differentiating fact, an accredited testing laboratory, and the old page leads with a photograph of a workshop instead. The rebuild leads with the specification: product ranges by class, the ratings table, the accreditation, and the lead times. In a market where buyers compare specifications, the specification is the pitch, so the page is built like a catalogue rather than like a brochure.

The concept is live and it was sent to the company. It was not commissioned, and nobody there has agreed to it being shown here; if they ask, it comes down.
